10 teams compete in GS races at Bigrock

MARS HILL — Bigrock Ski Area hosted a pair of high school giant slalom competitions on Saturday and the Fort Kent Warriors came away with wins for both the boys and girls teams.

In the morning races Fort Kent finished first, followed by Caribou and Presque Isle.

Individually Brandon Ouellete of Fort Kent finished first with a combined time for both runs of 1:41.31. Spencer Stetson of Central Aroostook was second with a time of 1:42.06. Other local skiers in the top 10 included: 4, Dean Walker, Car, 1:45.35; 7, Nolan McDuffie, Car, 1:49.09; and 8, Matt Sullivan, PI, 1:49.85.

In the afternoon races Fort Kent once again finished first followed by John Bapst, Caribou and Presque Isle. Central Aroostook did not meet the requirements for a team score.

Local skiers in the top 10 included: 1, Stetson, CAHS, 1:35.00; 4, McDuffie, Car, 1:42.02; 5, Sullivan, PI, 1:43.28; and 10, Sean Barbosa, Car, 1:44.74.

In the girls’ morning race Presque Isle finished second, Caribou fourth and Central Aroostook sixth.

Local skiers in the top 10 included; 6, Emma Bartlett, PI, 1:51.42; and 8, Samantha Kearney, CAHS, 1:52.81.

Presque Isle finished second once again in the afternoon races. Central Aroostook was fourth and Caribou fifth.

Local skiers in the top 10 included: 5, Kearney, CAHS, 1:44.12; and 8, Bartlett, PI, 1:47.27.

Also participating in the meet were Hampden, Mattanawcook and Foxcroft Academy, Lee and Greenville.
