PLYMOUTH, N.C. and HOULTON – Robert E. Stewart, 63, died January 17, 2012 in Plymouth, N.C. after a very couragous battle with cancer at Roanoke Landing Nursing Center. Robert was born March 30, 1948 in Houlton, the son of Loretta (Faulkner) Stewart and Floyd L. Stewart.
He grew up in Linneus and worked in the wood industry until his illness. Some of his biggest enjoyments were watching Pelletier logging and a logging outfit from N.C. on TV. He also enjoyed long rides, cookouts, and talking with family and friends.
Robert is survived by his mother, Loretta of Houlton; and five children, Adam and his girlfriend, Trish, of Biddeford, Patty and her husband, Nate, of Rochester, N.H. Anthony of Acton, Bobbie Jo and her husband, Terry Paradis of Jacksonville, N.C and April and her husband, Rev. Lenard Bowers of Plymouth, N.C. and thirteen grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters, Sandra Austin of New Limerick, Janice Dee and her husband Bill of Cold Stream, N.B. and twin sisters Darleen and her husband Larry, Doreen and her fiancee John of New Limerick. He also leaves behind the mother of his children, Donna Stewart of Houlton, and a very special friend, Gloria Blanchette of Millinocket. He was predeceased by his father Floyd, and his grandson, Steven McGary.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 19 at Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Plymouth N.C. with Rev. Robert Travis officiating. Funeral arrangements are through Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth, N.C. 27962. Condolences can be expressed at maitlandfuneralhome.com
