Edith “Eydie” F. (Schools) Johns, 58, of East Hartford, CT, loving wife for over 39 years to Wilbert R. Johns, peacefully went to her eternal patio on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 with her caring family by her side. Born in Houlton, ME on May 14, 1953, a daughter of the late Bernard and Grace (Sligar) Schools, she had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 37 years.
Eydie was a customer service representative for over 15 years at Star Stainless Screw Company in East Hartford. She enjoyed gardening and relaxing outside on her patio with family and friends.
Along with her parents, Eydie was predeceased by two sisters, Madelene Bridges and Theresa Piader; four brothers, Philip, Lewis, Gerald, and William Schools; and her beloved dog, Buddy.
Besides her beloved husband, Will, Eydie is survived by her two devoted children, son, Christopher M. Johns of East Hartford; and daughter, Michelle L. Harting and her husband, Graham, of East Hartford. She also leaves three brothers, Gary Schools and his wife, Gerry, of Enfield, CT, Donald Schools and his wife, Ellen, of Colchester, CT, Stephen Schools and his wife, Gwen, of York, PA; three sisters, Louise Shewokis of East Windsor, CT, Anna Grover and Jane LaBreck both of Wiscasset, ME; two sisters-in-law, Lois Casale and her husband, Dr. Albert Casale, of West Hartford, CT, Wilma Christiana and her husband, Richard, of Oro Valley, AZ; a brother-in-law, Raymond Spalla, Sr. of Glastonbury, CT; many nieces, nephews, co-workers, and dear friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 21 with a Memorial Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Phillip’s Church, 150 South Main Street (Route 5), East Windsor, CT. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edith’s name may be made to the St. Francis/Mount Sinai Regional Cancer Center, 114 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT 06105.
