Caribou Middle School names Students of the Month

CARIBOU, Maine — Susan White, principal at the Caribou Middle School has announced that the following students have been named Student of the Month for December.

Liam McMillon, a member of the sixth-grade team was selected as December Student of the Month by his teachers Mrs. Ruth Dionne and Mr. John Pelletier.

The CMS teachers said, “Liam is an honor roll student who works really hard in all he undertakes. He is extremely polite and respectful to his teachers as well as to his peers.” A member of the Caribou Middle School band and jazz band, the sixth-grader also keeps busy with Dutch Soccer, rec basketball and is on the Shop N’ Save Little League team. “He is a joy to have on our team and is an asset to the sixth grade,” his teachers added.

Evan Desmond, was named December Student of the Month by his sixth-grade teachers Mrs. Cathy Bouchard and Ms. Sarah LaJoie.

“Evan is a pleasure to have in class, always participating in discussions and giving his best in everything he does,” stated the team teachers. “He is a well-rounded student, receiving highest honors on his report card and participating in sports at CMS. In the fall, Evan ran cross-country, often leading the Caribou runners. He is now a member of the seventh-grade basketball team, he is well liked and respected by his peers and is a great addition to the school and highly deserving of this honor,” they added.

Susan Lewis was named December Student of the Month by her seventh-grade teachers Mrs. Mary Curtis, Mr. PJ Gorneault, Mrs. Niki Carpenter, Mrs. Holly Rhinebolt, Mrs. Kim Barnes, Mr. Steve Perreault, Mr. Lyle Gengler and Mr. Dale Ouellette.

“Susie is a delightful young lady who always has a smile on her face and is a talented artist who uses her gifts to help others,” said the CMS teachers. “She recently wrote, ‘I touch the hearts of others with art — I dream that I could change the world with my art.’ She is a leader in the classroom and enjoys working with all of her classmates. In light of this, we feel she is an asset to CMS,” said her teachers.

Jill Courchene was named December Student of the Month by seventh-grade CMS teachers Mrs. Curtis, Mr. Gorneault, Mrs. Carpenter, Mrs. Rhinebolt, Mrs. Barnes, Mr.  Perreault, Mr. Gengler and Mr. Ouellette.

The CMS team teachers stated, “Jill is a leader at CMS who is very involved with the Gifted and Talented Program. She is currently playing an active role in creating the mural being painted near the main office and in a poem for English class, Jill recently wrote, ‘I don’t think I’m better than anyone else, I just hold myself to high standards.’ As a student who is dedicated to her studies, Jill sets a positive example for her classmates,” said her techers.

Chris Adams, an eighth-grade student who transferred to CMS from the Connor School, was named December Student of the Month by his teachers Mrs. Keaton and Mrs. Learnard, who said they are very proud to acknowledge Chris’ excellent work ethic in English, language and arts.

“Chris is a conscientious student and always tries his best. He has a passion for history and languages. He is a good friend whose character sets a good example for other students and he is very deserving of this recognition,” they added.

Kendall Mignacca, a member of the eighth grade at CMS was selected to be the December Student of the Month by her teachers Mrs. Keaton and Mrs. Learnard.

“Kendall is an eighth-grader who tries to make a difference,” said the CMS teachers. “She consistently puts others’ needs before her own. Her compassion for others was highly evident during our recent food drive at CMS when she contributed over 80 items to the project. Kendall is a hard worker and her teachers often highlight her good work habits as being exemplary in ELA and said she is very deserving of this recognition,” they added.
