HOULTON — It takes quite a bit to surprise Health Services Foundation Executive Director Elizabeth Dulin, but the staff at Yorks of Houlton were able to do precisely that.
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month back in October, the staff at Yorks came up with the idea to donate $10 for every vehicle sold to the Foundation and its fund-raising effort to bring digital mammography equipment to Houlton.

BU-CLR-Yorks-dc-pt-2FOR A GOOD CAUSE — The staff at Yorks of Houlton donated $810 to Health Services Foundation for its digital mammography campaign. Taking part in the presentation are, front from left, Elizabeth Dulin, Health Services Foundation executive director; Emily Gardiner and Roger Chapman; and back Jamie York, Amanda Sirois, David Carter, Mike Brown and Brian Howe.

“I was really excited because they kept it a secret until they made the call and told me what they did, and it was just such great news,” Dulin said. “York’s has been a supporter of the Foundation since the very beginning and has made significant contributions to projects and programs over those many years, and those contributions have been instrumental in assisting the Foundation to give back so much to the communities we serve. We thank York’s for all they do to stand behind our organization, as they truly understand the importance of quality health care for their communities.”
Emily Gardiner of Yorks said Mike Brown, a salesman at the dealership, presented the idea.
“We try to come up with different ideas on ways we can make a difference as part of our CPI (Continuous Process Improvement),” Gardiner explained.
Yorks raised $810 from the promotion.
