Few games played over Christmas break

There were very few games on tap over the Christmas break. East Grand split with Acadia Christian, while Central Aroostook defeated Hodgdon in last Tuesday’s games.
In girls’ action, Vicki McIntyre and Racheal Grew each netted 21 points to carry the visiting Lady Panthers over Hodgdon, 48-38.
    Mariah Wiley paced Hodgdon with 15 points, with Maya Gardiner adding 13.
The East Grand girls toppled host Acadia Christian, 43-24 behind Shaunna Beaudoin’s 13-point effort. Shelby Lindsey added nine points.
For Acadia Christian, Brianna Springer pumped in 16 points.
On the boys side, East Grand fell to host Acadia Christian, 54-45.
Brandon Hagan led Acadia with 21 points, while East Grand was led by Brett Stoddard and Alex Brittain with 13 points apiece.
Last Friday in Fort Fairfield, the Tigers picked up a double win, as the girls pulled away from Katahdin, 68-25 and the Tiger boys edged Katahdin, 47-45.
The Lady Tigers used a 27-2 opening lead to race away from Katahdin. Amanda Hotham’s 14 points keyed well-balanced effort, as Janae Libby added 13 points; Danielle Tracy, eight points; Logan Bubar seven assists and Whitney McNamee had nine rebounds.
The boys contest was much more exciting, as Dereck Dufour hit a pair of free throws with 3.9 seconds left in the game to lift his team to victory. Dufour scored 24 points in the game. Andrew Lewis netted 15 and grabbed 12 boards, while Brandon Clark tossed in six points and hauled down 13 rebounds.
Wyatt Morse and Braden Cunningham led Katahdin with 12 points apiece, while Colton Bivighouse dropped in 11 more. Billy Livezey added eight points and T.J. young a basket. Jesse McNally brought down eight rebounds.
