HOULTON — A 28-year-old Houlton man was charged with failing to make an accident report, driving to endanger and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident following an incident around noon Friday.
According to Houlton Police Chief Butch Asselin, Tyler Hipsley, 28 was driving a Chevrolet S-10 pickup that struck the rear of a motorcycle operated by Ryann J. Botting, 20, also of Houlton. Botting was northbound on North Street near the I-95 interchange when he slowed his motorcycle down for some standing water in the roadway.
At that time, Hipsley reportedly struck the rear of the motorcycle and attempted to flee the scene.
Botting’s brother Jason was following him in a pickup truck and attempted to box Hipsley’s vehicle in preventing him from leaving. Hipsley then allegedly struck Jason Botting’s pickup, went over a curb and managed to drive away, the chief said.
Hipsley was later arrested. Moments before the accident, Hipsley power braked his vehicle at the traffic light causing excessive amounts of smoke from his spinning tires, the chief said.
