Limestone Chamber officials announce Photo Contest

LIMESTONE —Trafton Lake, the annual Fourth of July Festivities, the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge — Limestone’s been the backdrop of many great photos of families and friends from all over the region and beyond, which is why officials with the Greater Limestone Chamber of Commerce have begun a Photography Contest.

Officials with the Chamber’s Web Committee are looking for 12 photos depicting what Limestone is all about — its beauty, heritage and culture. All entries submitted will be reviewed and the best 12 photos will be selected for use on the opening screen of the new (and much improved) Limestone Maine web site. The winning entries will also entitle their photographers to a prize.

You don’t have to be a Limestone resident to enter; the contest’s only parameter is that the photo must have been taken in Limestone. Chamber officials are requesting that individuals include information indicating where (and if possible, when) the photo was taken along with their photo submission. The contest will run until Saturday, Dec. 31.

While only 12 prize-winners will be selected, all entries will be displayed in a photo gallery depicting Limestone on the new Chamber of Commerce’s website, which is scheduled to debut as early as mid-January.

Both tangible and digital photos will be accepted into the contest, and entries must be labeled “chamber photo contest” and have contact information so tangible photos can be returned and the winners informed.

Photographs may be submitted at Al-Bear’s Restaurant in Limestone from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, or they can be e-mailed to President of the Limestone Chamber of Commerce Michelle Albert at mmalbert@yahoo.com.

Additional information regarding the contest can be obtained by calling Al-Bear’s at 325-2114. (Lewd and inappropriate photos will be automatically disqualified).

Whether your photos were taken at the Loring Commerce Centre, on the town’s snowmobiling trails or during the Maine School of Science and Mathematics’ summer camp, Chamber officials encourage you to share your picturesque memories to help Limestone shine during its long-awaited modernized Internet debut.
