Aroostook Times
Houlton — The ladies of the Episcopal Church will hold their annual Christmas sale in the new Parish House and a public supper will be served from 5:30 to 7 o’clock. The building has been given as a memorial to Mrs. Jane Watson by her son, John.
New group — A new orchestra, which will be known as Hall’s Orchestra has been organized in Houlton. The members are Albert Klein, violin; Percy Hall, coronet, Oscar Wilson, clarinet; Wilbur Crockett, trombone, and Mrs. Bert Doyle, piano.
Theft — Burglars entered the house of Judge F.A. Powers on Main Street early Sunday morning and secured about $60 worth of silver before they were frightened away by Mr. Powers’ son who returned home late. No clue has been obtained of the robber.

Smyrna Mills — The Roosevelt Grammar School teachers sponsored an oyster stew supper at the Methodist Church. The money realized from the supper will be used to install electric lights in the school building.1936 File Photo
NEW BUS — Above is one of the new deluxe passenger buses which is to begin operation Monday, Nov. 23, to supplement train service of the Bangor & Aroostook between various towns in Aroostook County.
Ricker Classical Institute — Students receiving academic honors at mid-semester are, Seniors: Alta Estabrook, Christie Gavel, Estelle Gallupe, Louise Hagan, Edward Henderson, John Hess, Pauline Pipes and Wendell Corey.
Littleton — The farm home and shed of Fred Foster was completely gutted by a raging five, as the efforts of the bucket brigade composed of neighbors were of no avail. The property is located on the Hillsiding Road.

Rotary — The Houlton Rotary Auction air wave selling grossed approximately $4,000. Net proceeds will go toward the Houlton Community Swimming Pool.
Landing delayed — An unthinking motorist driving around on the runways at the Houlton International Airport delayed for several minutes the landing of a Northeast Airlines plane until the driver drove off the concrete strips.
Hodgdon High — Players named to the basketball team coached by Donald Oliver are, Terrance Quint, Gary Stewart, David Dow, Brian Nightingale, Murray Williams, Richard Simpson, Paul Sjoberg, Virgil Bartlett, Michael Shorey, Roger Estabrook and Eugene Wright,

Shires — This years Houlton boy’s basketball team will be sparked by Terry Cummings and Marty Bouchard according to Coach Brian Plourde.
New flag pole — St. Mary’s School has a new flag pole, a gift from the Knights of Columbus. Wilfred Pelletier made the metal pole, carving a ball for the top from cedar, shaping, sanding and gilding it in a bright shiny gold.
Music department — Director Robert Bahr and the HHS music department will present “South Pacific” the first weekend in December.
