PORTAGE LAKE – Theresa B. “Terri” Cyr, 82, beloved wife of Gilbert Cyr, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at her home at Portage Lake. She was born in St. Agatha on Nov. 4, 1929, daughter of Dan and Helene (Pelletier) Bosse. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Van Buren. She was a member of the Our Lady of the Lake Parish Sodality for many years.

Terri was an avid skier and also loved to bowl in the Presque Isle Senior Bowling League. She also enjoyed golf and was a member of the Portage Hills Ladies League at the Portage Hills Country Club. Throughout her life, she was very active in her community and parish, serving as ballot clerk for the Town of Portage Lake for many years and as a Eucharistic minister and religious education teacher at her church.

Terri will be remembered as an amazing self-sacrificing wife, Ma, and Ammy. She always made holidays and occasions special for everyone in her family. Through baby blue eyes, she spread the kindness of her heart to all who surrounded her. One of Terri’s favorite places was at the lake where she spent every summer during her long life, surrounded by family and friends. She would move the family to the lake on the last day of school each summer and stay until Labor Day each fall. She enjoyed the many generations of young people enjoying the lake as she did.

Terri & Gil enjoyed their years as “snow birds” in Florida and loved traveling, photographing and journaling their adventures across the globe. She volunteered her time tutoring students through the Martin County, Florida Literacy Council and continued her lifelong learning through a variety of continuing education classes.

In addition to her husband Gil of nearly 59 years, who dedicated himself to making her days special, she is survived by her sons, Gregory and wife, Patricia, of Fort Kent, and Scott and wife, Phyllis, of Cumberland; daughters, Janice Cyr and husband, Gerry Cormier, of Portage Lake, Charlene Cyr and husband, Clive Bragdon, of Cornish, and Beverly Garrity and husband, Joseph of Pawleys Island, SC; nine grandchildren, Tara, Chad, Chelsea, Dylan, Dayna, Rhyne, Abby, Danielle, and Carter; two great-grandchildren, Keegan and Emma. One of 12 children, she is also survived by her brothers, Lawrence and wife, Jackie, and Paul and wife, Jill; her sisters, Lucille Cyr, Dorothy Bosse, and Bernadette Anderson; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She will also be missed by a very devoted friend, Pat Plourde.

Terri was predeceased by her brothers, Gilman Bosse, Donald Bosse and Louis Chasse; and her sisters, Doris Cyr, Martha “Babe” Laprise, and Annette Chasse.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Sunday, Nov. 20, at Our Lady of the lake Catholic Church. Interment was in the Portage Lake Municipal Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 383 US Route One, Ste. 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
