Energy — Sources and Savings
Adult Education and Region Two Vocational are offering a public workshop about recent developments in alternative energy and energy conservation. The workshop will run from 8-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the Region Two School of Applied Technology in Houlton. Topics will include the new Bio-mass boiler at Houlton High School, Residential Energy Conservation and Insulation, Geo-thermal, Pellets, and Solar energy. There will also be information for homeowners and businesses about financing opportunities for energy upgrades and conservation. This is a free workshop for all interested homeowners, contractors, and the general public.
WorkReady – Not Just for Unemployed
The skill-building program known as WorkReady is helpful to those looking for work, and it can also be used to build the customer service, teamwork, and communication skills of current employees. With this in mind, WorkReady is offering an introduction to the program for local employers at the Houlton Regional Hospital Center for Community Health Education on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 a.m. There is no charge for this session. Come and hear how WorkReady can improve the soft skills of current and future employees in this course scheduled to begin in January 2012.
