Thirty-four members of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) recently attended a training seminar on “Understanding Dementia,” at the Rose Acres Community Room in Caribou.

Steve Farnham, executive director of the Agency on Aging introduced the guest speaker, Dottie Sines, who informed the Friendly Visitor Volunteers in attendance of this increasing health problem affecting not only the elderly population but younger adults as well. Questions and answers were exchanged during the training session prior to a luncheon buffet.

The overall consensus of the volunteers was that the training answered many concerns and that information gleaned from this event will be most helpful when visiting clients at their homes in the future.
