CARIBOU – Richard “Rick” Calvin Taylor, 61, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011, with his family by his side. Rick was born in Mt. Holly, New Jersey, on June 22, 1950, the son of Harvey and Eleanor May (Gaunt) Taylor.
Rick was a true renaissance man. He played the guitar for fifty-one years enjoying all types of music from Jimmy Hendrix to classical, christian, rock and had even started playing Spanish songs. As an artist, Rick could draw anything from portraits to mountain landscapes. He was also a strong Christian, who preached to his kids on a regular basis, and who had read the Bible through thirteen times. He was an accomplished woodworker, who could make anything from a grandfather’s clock to a baby’s crib. He also enjoyed staying active as a third degree black belt in Karate.
Rick is survived by his companion, Rena Baron of Caribou; his children, Richard Taylor Jr., and his wife, Christy of Caribou Dorothy “Buffy” Taylor of Caribou, April Espling, and her husband, Carl of Caribou, Ricky Scheurwater of Caribou, James Taylor of Washburn, and Rebekah Taylor of Caribou. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Alex, Lilian, Charlie, Abigail and Aiden. He will also be missed by his loving dog, Bumblebear.
Friends and family may call on Wednesday, November 2, from 6-8 p.m. at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover Street, Caribou. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3, at 11 a.m. at Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Church, Rev. Aaron Damboise celebrant.
