American Flag ColorMASARDIS – Joseph Vincent Malena, 67, died October 24, 2011, at his residence after spending a day with his family. He was born December 22, 1943, in Hartford, Conn., the biological son of Joseph Malena and Theresa Vachon, but was raised by loving parents, Thomas and June (Randall) Boyce.

He was employed as a police officer for many years prior to his disability. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9699 of Ashland, Disabled American Veterans and American Legion.

Vince greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

Vince is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Brown) Malena; one daughter, Cheri; a son, Ronald; a son, Travis and his wife, Anne; a son, Thomas and his fiancée, Meagan; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Mary and Sarella; and one half-brother, Joseph.

Relatives and friends called 6-8 p.m. Sunday, at St. Mark Catholic Church, Ashland. A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Monday, at St. Mark Catholic Church. At the request of the family, there was a celebration of life reception directly after the service. Interment was at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in his memory to the Humane Society. Funeral arrangements are a service of Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland.
