CARIBOU — Maine Recycles Week is an annual statewide campaign to promote recycling efforts and is held every year in the state of Maine From Nov. 8 to Nov. 15. In honor of Maine Recycles Week, officials with the Northern Maine Development Commission and the Northern Maine Solid Waste Management Committee are teaming up to offer a free backyard composting class that includes a free Earth Machine compost bin, in order to promote the importance and ease of recycling food and yard wastes.
Pre-registration for the class is mandatory as the class is limited to 10 participants. The compost class will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the NMDC building in Caribou, located at 11 West Presque Isle Road.
