PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host a rededication ceremony and ribbon-cutting event for the newly-renovated Pullen Hall at noon on Thursday, Oct. 27.
The structure has undergone renovations, from top to bottom, including installation of solar panels and a pellet furnace.
“Pullen is one of UMPI’s major classroom buildings. It received $2.3 million in improvements, including solar panels on the roof, a biomass boiler in the basement and many energy-efficient upgrades in between,” said UMPI President Don Zillman.
These upgrades, according to Zillman, “have helped to reduce the building’s carbon footprint and created vastly improved educational facilities for students.”
Zillman will be joined by several local and state dignitaries at the ceremony.
“Several state and local officials will be on hand for the event, including: Sam Collins, University of Maine System Board of Trustees; representatives speaking on behalf of Maine’s congressional delegation; Bill Greaves, Maine Department of Conservation; and Rob Clark, U.S. Forest Service,” said Zillman.
The ceremony will take place on the third floor of Pullen Hall in the Pullen Art Gallery. For more information, contact the Media Relations Office at 768-9447.
