MICHAUD, Nadia M., 83, PERHAM, October 18, 2011. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 28, at the New Life Baptist Church, Presque Isle, from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. followed by a burial of her ashes at the Fairview Cemetery in Perham.

PERHAM — Naida M. Michaud passed peacefully into the Hands of the Lord surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, following a brief illness. She was born Nada M. Edstrand in Caribou on July 28, 1928, to Albin & Louise (Hanson) Edstrand as the fifth of six children.

She waited for her high school sweetheart and best friend, Gerald Michaud to complete school and boot camp before being married in 1952. As a U.S. Marine family, they lived from the beaches of California on the Pacific to the beaches of North Carolina on the Atlantic, as well as here in northern Maine.

Naida was always quick to make friends wherever she lived and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She was widowed young and moved her family back to the county to start over.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; her parents, Albin & Louise Edstrand; brother, Marvin Edstrand; and sisters Avis (Acey) Dahlgren and Arlene (Nené) Akerson.

Naida is survived by her sisters: Rita Edstrand and Freda (Teté) Durepo; her daugher and son-in-law, Belinda & Bill Nill; daughter, Brenda Michaud; son, Jerry “Danny” & wife, Barb Michaud; son, Michael Michaud; and her son and daughter-in-law, Rodney & Carol Michaud. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; dozens of nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

She was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Presque Isle and also attended the Perham Baptist Church.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 28, at the New Life Baptist Church at 229 Caribou Road, Presque Isle, from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. followed by a burial of her ashes at the Fairview Cemetery in Perham.
