Jackson will bring voice to Council
To the editor:
My name is Robert Jackson, better known to a lot of you as “Bob Jackson.” I have lived, raised my family and worked most of my life in Presque Isle (since 1965).
I worked in automotive parts stores in the city since graduation doing most jobs, inventory, bookkeeping, counter work, selling on the road and up to store manager. I met a lot of you folks doing this job. While I worked at this job, I was a volunteer firefighter for Presque Isle (22 years). In 1989, I came on as a full-time firefighter for the city (22-plus years). In June of 2011, I retired from the city’s fire department.
Are you happy with the direction the city is going? If your answer is “no,” you can help change it. You have two options. Option one is to get involved more by attending and voicing your concerns at council meetings, budget meetings, committee meetings and the list goes on. Can you do this? In a “perfect world” you could, but if your world isn’t perfect, this isn’t possible.
Option two is elect me, Robert “Bob” Jackson, to one of two four-year seats open on the City Council. There are two four-year seats and two one-year seats open, so we, because one is seeking reelection, will have at least three new faces and visions for the city in 2012.
So I’m asking, on Nov. 8, 2011, that you vote for Robert “Bob” Jackson for City Council and let me help be your voice in the city when we don’t live in a “perfect world.”
