Staff honored at MPA dinner
NORTHPORT — The Star-Herald was presented with 10 awards during the Maine Press Association’s annual banquet Saturday evening at the Point Lookout Resort.
The MPA “Better Newspaper Contest” awards included:
• Kathy McCarty earned first-place honors in the picture story category, second place in both the arts/lifestyle feature and health reporting divisions, and third place in spot news photography.
• Scott Johnson won a second-place award in the news photography category.
• Joe Cyr won second-place honors in the sports photo division.
• Bill Graves placed second for his regular sports column, Mainely Outdoors.
• Kevin Sjoberg and Joe Cyr took first-place honors for their sports section.
The entire newspaper staff was recognized with top honors in the Newspapers in Education special section division and third place in the in-paper circulation category.
