Eager top PIHS finisher
in PVC Championships held in Caribou

CARIBOU — For the fourth consecutive year the Caribou High School boys are the Class B PVC cross country champions.
Running on a wet and muddy three-mile course on Saturday in Caribou the Vikings (41) captured the title over second place Ellsworth (46). John Bapst (66), MDI (108) and Presque Isle (148) followed. Foxcroft, Hermon, Old Town and Washington Academy also competed in Class B.

Bangor Christian won the Class C title. Also taking part in Class C were Orono, Mattanawcook, Sumner, Lee, Central of East Corinth, George Stevens Academy and Bucksport.
Dan Curtis of Ellsworth was the individual winner in a time of 16:23.8. Matt Guiod of Mattanawcook (16:51.3) was second, just ahead of Presque Isle’s Matt Eager (16:55.5). Rounding out the top 10 are: 4. Alex Beals, John Bapts, (16.57.4); 5. Chapman, Caribou, (17:06.8); 6. Lund, Caribou, (17:16.3); 7. William Fletcher, MDI, (17:22.2): 8. Tyler White, Orono, (17:29.8): 9. Sam Proctor, Bangor Christian, (17:43.5); and 10. Schuyler Collett, Orono, (17:53.7).
The top 10 finishers for both the boys and girls are PVC First Team All-Conference.
Local runners in the top 40 include: Caribou’s Washington (13), Kinney (17), Wood (24) and Kjetil Rossignol (34).
The Caribou boys JV team also placed first, with Zebediah Johnson winning that race.
In the girls’ Class B competition Caribou (76) placed third behind MDI (36) and John Bapts (39). Ellsworth (79) was fourth and Presque Isle (157) fifth. Hermon, Old Town, Foxcroft and Washington Academy also took part.
The Class C girls’ title went to Orono.
Aleta Looker of Ellsworth won the individual title with a time of 19:18.8 for the 3-mile course, followed by MacKenzie Belyea of Caribou (19:45.2) and third-place Adrienne Carmack of John Bapst (20:21.6). Rounding out the top 10 are: 4. Maggie Painter, MDI, (20:35.8); 5. Rowan Wilson, Orono, (20:50.1); 6. Olivia Erickson, MDI, (20:52.2); 7. Isabel Erickson, MDI. (20:55.4); 8. Mary Carmack, John Bapst, (20:55.6); 9. Seraphia Provenzano, John Bapst, (21:01.6); and 10. Amanda Lalime, John Bapst, (21:19.8).
Local runners in the top 40 include: Caribou’s Chelsea Bard (19), Nerissa Larrabee (25), Rene Dube (29), Kelly Kashian (31) and Robyn Larrabee (35); and for Presque Isle Shelby Condon (34) and Amanda Palmer (36).
Caribou’s Ashley Richards won the JV race.
