Zorro is a 10-week-old long-hair, all-black male kitten who appears to have some Maine Coon background. “He is sweet, loving, clean and very happy,” described volunteers with the Halfway Home Pet Rescue. Zorro received his first distemper shot, has been treated for parasites and will be adopted with a neuter voucher. His adoption fee is $50. Volunteers with the rescue hosted a kitten/cat adoption fair on Saturday, Oct. 15 from noon until 3 p.m. at the Tractor Supply Store in Presque Isle. They had at least nine kittens and four young adult cats available at that time. “We still have many kittens who are too young for adoption at this time so the need for Purina Kitten Chow continues,” said HHPR President Norma Milton, adding that the shelter is still seeking an affordable relocation option for their cats in Caribou. “Caribou is our number-one choice so if you know of something, please let us know as soon as possible,” she said, adding that the volunteers are also looking into alternative options in Woodland, Washburn or Presque Isle. “Please do let us know if you have something suitable and available by December 1,” Milton asked. The shelter’s volunteers have been coordinating several future fundraisers to help them afford a relocation site and future building, but they are in need of baked goods, fudge, crafts, etc. for their booth at the Caribou Arts and Craft Fair on Oct. 22 and 23. Items can be delivered to 11 Pioneer Ave., on Friday, Oct. 23. All proceeds from will go directly on the vet bill. Volunteers expressed their appreciation for the lovely article on the shelter written by intern Shannon Butler for the newest Echoes edition. Halfway Home Pet Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit, state licensed animal shelter at 11 Pioneer Ave in Caribou.
