FORT FAIRFIELD & MAPLETON – Elizabeth Staples, 91, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011, at her residence. She was born January 22, 1920, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Jim and Stella Browning.

She is survived by a son, Gary Staples of San Jose, CA; a granddaughter, Sherry Lunney; and a great-grandson, Christopher Lunney; both of Dixon, CA; brother, Carl Browning and his wife, Lois of Farmersville, Texas; two sisters: Sara Brown and Ruby Browning, both of Fort Fairfield; four sisters-in-law: Pauline Tarris of Winsconsin, Eveline Robinson of Jackson, TN, Marie Herery of Wichita, KS, and Laura Browning; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Elwood Staples; two sons: Richard and Raymond Staples; three brothers: Vaughn, Clayton and Merle Browning; and three sisters: Rose Scott, Mable Pendexter, and Maxine Browning.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m., Thursday, at Southside Cemetery, Chapman, with the Rev. George McLaughlin officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 until 10:20 a.m. at the funeral home.
