It’s getting down to the wire for some teams trying to move higher in the Heal Point standings. The last day for countable games is Oct. 18 and there are some important games, like another Presque Isle-Caribou girls’ matchup.

Neither Caribou nor Presque Isle have to worry about making the playoffs. The Vikings are currently No. 2 in Eastern Maine Class B. The Wildcats are No. 3.
In Class D Washburn is No. 1 by a large margin over Penobscot Valley. Fort Fairfield is No. 4, with Easton and Central Aroostook seventh and eighth. Ashland and LCS/MSSM are No. 14 and No. 16 respectively.
Resuls of the games through Monday, Oct. 10 include:
Hermon 1, Caribou 0 — The marquis game of the weekend was in Caribou as Hermon, which is No. 1 in Class B girls, took on the Vikings, which holds onto the No. 2 spot in the Heal Point standings.
This was a defensive struggle all afternoon. Hermon managed the only goal of the game in the first half to win 1-0.
Neither team managed a lot of shots on goal and the Hawks were content to keep four defenders back after scoring the one goal. Caribou managed a few runs in the final minutes, but none resulted in a quality scoring opportunity.
Presque Isle 1, Old Town 0 — The Presque Isle Wildcats made the trip down I-95 on Saturday to take on the always tough Old Town Coyotes.
Kayla Richards scored the game’s only goal with 12:15 remaining as Presque Isle topped Old Town. Meredith Stewart made seven saves on eight shots for the 7-1-1 Wildcats.
PI coach Ralph Michaud said he knew it would be difficult game. Old Town had tied Hermon, which is No. 1 in Class B, and Orono recently.
“It was a great team win for us,” said Michaud. “Everyone contributed.”
Fort Kent 4, Fort Fairfield 0 — At Fort Fairfield Saturday, Fort Kent received goals from Alexis Desjardins, Sam Carapellucci, Roxi Pelletier and Kendra Raymond en route to its eighth win against three losses. Erin Chasse and Lindsay Soucy had assists and Alexa Pelletier made one save.
Katy Donovan made eight saves on 19 shots for 7-4-1 Fort Fairfield.

Van Buren 5, Ashland 1 — At Van Buren Friday, goals late in the first half by Chantal Rioux and Parise Rossignol pushed the Crusaders into a 2-1 lead at halftime, and Van Buren never looked back.
Rossignol finished with two goals and two assists, Rioux posted two goals and Felisha Bouchard had a goal for 7-4 Van Buren. Brittany Duprey and Haley Lizotte added assists. Ashlie Wilson made a dozen saves on 16 shots.
Anna Paradis scored the lone goal for the 1-10-1 Hornets. Macie Bellanceau made eight saves on 17 shots.
Washburn 9, Wisdom 0 — The Washburn Beavers returned to action after a few weeks off due to the harvest break with a scoring flurry against the Wisdom Pioneers.
In St. Agatha Wednesday, Mackenzie Worcester scored six goals and had two assists to lead the Beavers to the 9-0 win. Carsyn Koch notched a hat trick for Washburn.
Rayah Saucier made five saves on eight shots for 12-0 Washburn. Taylor Hobbs made 27 saves on 50 shots for 2-9-1 Wisdom.
Caribou 11, Foxcroft Academy 0 — The Caribou Vikings put on an impressive scoring display against the Foxcroft Academy Ponies, netting 11 goals in a road win on Oct. 4.
Olivia Sleeper and Jamie Martin scored two goals apiece. Martin also added three assists. Katie Keaton, Meredith Sleeper, Delaney Williams, Samantha Murchison, Katelynn Tardie, Reanna Plourde and Regan Buck all chipped in with a goal.
Morgan Swan wasn’t very busy in goal, registering one save on one shot.
Presque Isle 5, Ellsworth 1 — At Ellsworth Oct. 4, Chelsea Nickerson scored two goals in a 5-1 win over Ellsworth. Kayla Richards contributed a goal and an assist for 7-1-1 Presque Isle. Chandler Guerrette scored once and Megan Ireland added a goal and two assists.
Meredith Stewart made three saves on six shots.
