Schmidt celebrates 80th birthday

    Colleen Welch Schmidt was guest-of-honor at her 80th birthday party at the Calvary Baptist Church in Sherman Station/Stacyville on July 16.
    A beautiful arrangement of a dozen yellow roses was presented to Colleen by her four children. A yellow rose corsage, given by Georgia McNally, was pinned on by Colleen’s daughter, Eloise MacArthur. Many photos of the special occasion were taken. Background music was played by Colleen’s cousin, Benita Qualey, while a buffet meal was enjoyed. A basket of cards and gifts were presented to the guest-of-honor. A special cake, made by Penny Daggett, was cut and served by Colleen’s daughters. Then everyone gathered around and those who wished, stood and shared special memories of years gone by.
    Attending guests were: her children, Eloise and Arthur MacArthur of Martinsburg, W. Va. And sons David of Lewiston and Mark of Green, Martha and Raymond Landry and Deanna Williams Mitchell of Sherman, Wallace and Barbara Mitchell of Sherman, granddaughter Crystal Mitchell and financé Kevin O’Roak, grandson Keith and Nicole Mitchell and family of Bradley, Ethan, Olivia and Dean Mitchell of Sherman. Many of the 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren were unable to attend.

    Also attending were sister Rosalie and Mike Johnson and son Seth of Bangor, sister Janice and Ed Lynch and grandson Brandon of Mattawamkeag; cousin Suzanne Cox and daughter Sandy of Millinocket, cousin Edward and Liz Welch of Benedicta and cousin Benita Qualey of Patten.
    Many special friends came to share in the happy occasion. Among those were two very special lifelong friends, Dorothy McLellan and Joan O’Roak, with another special friend Brandy Bouchard, Carl and Jean McNally, Esther Greenier, Ervin and Dawn Fowler, John Huntley, Dick and Glenice Huntley and son Nathan, Becky Willigar and children, Becky’s sister Lorissa and family, Rhoda Heath and others.
