HODGDON — Mary Harbison, interim principal of Hodgdon High School, has announced that Britta Oliver, daughter of Joel and Lynn Oliver of Hodgdon, has been named a Commended Student in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program.
A Letter of Commendation from Hodgdon High School and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, has been presented to Oliver,

“Britta’s receipt of this commendation means she scored in the top five percent of the 1.5 million students who entered the 2012 competition by taking the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test,” Harbison said.
According to the NMSC, the young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success. The students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.
