Junior Dean Walker fights for position against an Old Town player Saturday night in schoolboy soccer action at CHS. Walker scored the first goal of the game for the Vikings.

That doesn’t mean the Heal Point standings aren’t changing on a daily basis. The Washburn Beavers are in third place in Class D, trailing Easton in second and Central Aroostook in first place.

Summaries of some of the matches played through Monday are as follows:

Old Town 4, Caribou 2 — At Caribou Saturday, the Vikings didn’t have an answer for Old Town’s Thorbin Treving, who scored three times leading the visitors to a 4-2 win over Caribou.

Dayne Savage and Matt Milliard each scored a goal for the 1-7 Vikings. Cody Herbert and Chad Caverhill each had an assist. Matt Manter made six saves on 13 shots.

Despite the Vikings record Coach Scott Hunter said the team is improving.

“I am very pleased with the progress our boys are making this season,” Hunter said. “We have been in every game and are playing good soccer, but we’ve been on the wrong side of the final scores. Our youth (1 senior) is the biggest reason for that, but we are playing hard and have given every team we’ve played a fight. We have an opportunity in our last six games to get some wins, but we will need to put together a full 80 minutes and find our scoring touch and get more consistency defensively.”

Central Aroostook 6, Fort Fairfield 1 — At Mars Hill Thursday, Central Aroostook’s Spencer Stetson had three goals to lead the Panthers to a 6-1 win over the Fort Fairfield Tigers. Stetson also added an assist. Other goals for the 6-3-2 Panthers were scored by Brandon Anthony, who had two, and Brendan York. Ross Grass and Spencer Garrison combined for five saves on nine shots.

Brandon Clark scored for 2-7 Fort Fairfield. Chris Weeks had 10 saves on 30 shots.

Washburn 9, Limestone-MSSM 1 — The Washburn Beavers continue to play excellent soccer with a high scoring win over host Limestone on Wednesday. Jordan McLaughlin had a huge game scoring six times and getting two assists. Washburn improved its record to 7-2-1. Nick Bragg, Mitch Worcester and Noah Farley had the other goals and Worcester also had four assists. Bragg had an assist.

Brandon Thompson scored for 1-7-1 Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics off a Tristan Kirk assist. Bret Butler and Dylan Nadeau combined for 15 saves.
