Eight boys from Cub Scout Pack 170 spent a week at Camp Roosevelt in Eddington Aug. 7-13. According to Cubmaster Eric Warren, this was a very large number for the pack. Those who enjoyed their week at Camp Roosevelt were Warren, Den Leaders Adam Stoutamyer, Peter Goheen and Mike Perkins, and Cubs Ben Cummings, Liam Woodworth, Shane Baker, Mark Curtis, Mike Perkins, Holden Stoutamyer, Austin Pictou, and Clint Goheen. In order to attend camp, the boys worked very hard earning funds by taking part in a garbage cleanup day at the Presque Isle Industrial Park back in May, as well as selling popcorn during their annual sale.

Baptism held
In spite of the high water level and the strong current experienced in the Aroostook River in Washburn Aug. 14, nine local individuals entered the waters for baptism. Pastor Nathan Gardiner of the West Chapman Advent Christian Church was assisted by Deacons Lionel McLaughlin and Dan Sharp. While those baptized were ushered in and out of the waters, friends and family were gathered on the bank, singing hymns in celebration.
