Ways to report

With the 2011 fall sports season officially upon us, it is crucial for local soccer, golf and cross-country coaches to report their results to the newspaper in a timely fashion.
The Houlton Pioneer Times attempts to cover as many games as possible throughout the week, but with so many teams covering a vast geographical area, it is often impossible to be at every home contest. Therefore, we ask area coaches or managers to send in their game/meet results as soon as possible after each contest, regardless of if they play at home or on the road.
There are a number of ways that results can be reported to the newspaper. Game results may be phoned in to the HPT office at 532-2281 or faxed to the office at 532-2403. Results may also be e-mailed to our office. This is the best way to get information to the newspaper. Results may be sent to pioneertimes@nepublish.com.
When submitting information, coaches should include the following pieces of information:
    • Name of the team you are reporting, date and location the game was played and the final score.
    • Individual stats are also needed. For example who scored goals and tallied assists in the game? How many shots and saves did your goalie make (include goalie’s name, as well as the opposing goalie’s stats.) Who scored goals for the opposition?
    • Feel free to provide any pertinent game information (key plays in the game, describe the game-winning goal, etc.)
    • Cross country coaches should send the complete results, along with comments on how your runners fared at the meet.
    • Football coaches should include information on scoring drives and individual statistics for both offense and defense if available.
The Houlton Pioneer Times strives for accuracy in its game reporting, but needs the help of its coaches to accomplish this goal.
