Lovely weather greeted the Saturday President’s Cup participants while pin placement required tricky approaches and some nervous putting strokes. Art Nickel had the required touch as he has his name engraved on the wall plaque as this year’s winner. (Bernard Langer, the great German pro would be proud of you, Art.) Second was Herky Stein, third was Bob Gray and fourth Aaron Peabody.
The Ladies winner was Harriet Gray (who taught Bob how to play golf, I’m told). Second was Misty Marino (who is much more patient than Tony).
Junior Champ was Cole McLaughlin with Alex Donovan placing second. Both, along with many other youngsters will enjoy this great game.
The Labor Day weekend’s Babe Caron Memorial member/guest tourney is shaping up with a large field already for Friday’s practice round and social evening. Saturday’s half handicap round and Sunday’s full handicap play will have players from all over the state as well as guests coming from other areas of the country. Late entries will be accepted by calling the Pro Shop ASAP.
The Men’s Twilight League play has reached the semi-finals match with Jerry York and Bob Gray meeting Mike Fleming and Steve Henderson; and Marty Bouchard and Mike Fogarty playing Gabe Goodwin and Dan Peabody.
In Ladies Twilight League action, the winners were as follows.
Division A winners – first: Misty Marino; tied for second: Barb Moakler and Martha Fasulo.
Division  B winners – first: Brittany Benn; second: Pam Mailman.
Division C winners – first: Jen Carr; second: Jane Phipps.
Division D winners – first: Betty Anderson; second: Ethel Mersereau.
