    HOULTON and CROSS LAKE TOWNSHIP – Shanon I. (Sanford) Richardson, 40, passed away Aug. 17, 2011, with her family by her side after a long and difficult battle. She was born May 19, 1971, in Kentucky.
      She attended school in Houlton. Shanon enjoyed volunteering at Volume’s Bookstore as well as Houlton Regional Hospital. She had many loves including reading, kayaking with her mom, fishing, cross-stitch, life at camp with her family, animals and her frog collection.
    She is survived by her grandparents, Lewis and Avis Durost Sr.; her parents, Debbie and Louie Durost, and Wayne and Veda Sanford Sr.; one sister, Crystal and her husband, Chris Blake; three brothers, Wade Russell, Wayne Sanford Jr. and Austin Sanford, and their families; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Jack Margison. Shanon loved being around people and will be missed by many.
    Per Shanon’s request, there will be no services. Anyone who wishes may make a donation in her memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or Houlton Humane Society.
