Major League

Summer recreation programs are wrapping up for the season and championships have been awarded.

In Presque Isle, on Aug. 2, a nine-inning thriller decided the Major League Championship for summer baseball.

Nick Bartlett had the walk off hit with a bomb down the left field line to propel Rotary to the 5-4 win over the Elks. Nic Olore went the distance for Rotary to get the win. To help preserve the win for Rotary Chandler Paradis had a great snag at second base.

For the Elks, Griffin Guerrette pitched seven strong innings and had a key triple.

Pony League

The Pony League Championship, also on Aug. 2, went to extra innings as well with Mapleton topping Rod Brewer Designs by a score of 12-8.

Karson Wilcox and Tyler Seeley pitched for RBD, while Frank Nunez, Cody McGlinn and Christan Nunez pitched Mapleton to the win.

Saul and Christina Nunez lead the Mapleton offense with three and two hits respectively.

Josh Gordon had two singles and a double for RBD.

Men’s flag football

The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department has started registration for men’s flag football. If interested in joining a team or adding a team to the league please come to the William V. Haskell Community Center and pick up an application. If more information is needed please contact 764-2545.
