Fall sports kick off

    The varsity soccer and cross-country seasons are getting under way.
    Today, the Houlton varsity boys will scrimmage Katahdin at 3 p.m. and on Friday, the varsity boys and Houlton varsity girls will host PVHS in scrimmages, with the girls’ game starting at 4 p.m., followed by the boys’ contest at 6 p.m.
    On Monday, the Houlton junior varsity and varsity boys and girls will host Madawaska, with the J.V. contests at 4 and varsity games at 6 p.m., respectively. On Friday, Aug. 26, the Houlton varsity girls and boys will host Fort Kent, with the girls’ game at 4 p.m. and boys’ at 6 p.m.
    The Houlton junior varsity boys and girls will also travel to Caribou on Thursday for a 3 p.m. scrimmage. The teams will also travel to Fort Kent on Aug. 25 for 4 p.m. contests.
    The Houlton junior high boys and girls soccer squads open their season Thursday, Aug. 25 hosting Presque Isle Blue at 4 p.m.
    The Greater Houlton Christian Academy opens its cross-country season Wednesday, Aug. 24 with a home meet against Fort Kent, Limestone/MSSM and Washburn at 4 p.m. in Community Park.
