ASHLAND – Clarence J. Long, 80, passed away August 14, 2011, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born August 17, 1930, in Portage, the son of, Thomas and Alice (Dugas) Long.

Clarence was a carpenter and craftsman for many years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, making crafts and dancing.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine (Rushinal) Long; five children: Larry Long and his wife, Wanda of Enterprize, AL, Danny Long and his wife, Jeanne of Portage Lake, Jeannie (Long) Ouellet and husband, Eugene of Ashland, Nancy (Long) Samson and husband, Ferdenand of CT, and Bonnie (Long) Stevens and husband, Boardman “Bob” of Garfield; a brother, Norman Long of Ashland; a sister, Stella Long of Florida. Clarence is also survived by 17 grandchilren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sons, James and Thomas Long Sr.

A special thanks goes to Jeannie and Bonnie for the wonderful care they gave their Dad, that has enabled both their parents to remain in their home.

On Saturday, August 20, family and friends may get together at his home, 635 Presque Isle Road, Ashland, between 2 and 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, cards may be mailed to P.O.
