Johnson wins 44th annual Spudland Open
Despite a strong thunderstorm Saturday afternoon, which sent golfers to find cover, the 44th annual Coca-Cola Spudland Amateur Open at the Presque Isle Country Club went off without a hitch.
One of the bigger golf tournaments in Aroostook County, the Spudland has been a highlight for golfers each July.
The overall gross winner of the two-day stroke play tournament was Kent Johnson of the Bangor area. His total was 145. Dylan Carter, of Calais, was the overall net winner with a 131. Phil Pelletier won the Joseph Freeman Memorial Award as the PICC member with the lowest score. Pelletier’s two day total was 148.
