Brian Guerrette, owner/manager of Guerrette Sales, in Caribou recently made a donation of potatoes to a number of food pantries in the Washington County area. From left are: Ed Plissey, University of Maine Potato Specialist Emeritus and member of the Washington County Food and Fuel Alliance; Brian Guerrette, Caribou area farmer/owner and manger of Guerrette Sales; and Larry Finnegan, co-manager of the Jonesport Food Pantry.
Gurrette Sales makes frequent potato donations to charitable groups in the central Aroostook County area and this recent donation represented the first donation to food pantry groups in Washington County. Four other food pantries are active in the Washington County area but did not participate in this potato donation due to storage constraints. All food pantries in this particular area are cooperators in the Washington County Food and Fuel Alliance, whose board is chaired by Pastor Gini King, retired Congregational Church minister in Jonesport.
