Basketball “Shootout” set for July 22 and 23
Sixteen girls’ high school basketball teams will be traveling to Fort Fairfield for the 7th Annual Girls “County” Basketball Shootout to be held on July 22 and 23.
Each team will play a minimum of 4 games and a maximum of 6 games, with the 1st and 2nd place teams in each of the four pools moving on to the quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals. A consolation of 3rd and 4th place teams will also be played giving each team a minimum of 4 games.
Lady Tigers coach Larry Gardner said, “This will be an outstanding tournament as we have some of the best teams in Class C and D set to play. We have teams from Schenck of East Millinocket, Narraguagus, Shead, Penobscot Valley, Caribou, Fort Kent, Madawaska, Washburn, Mars Hill, Hodgdon, East Grand, Easton, Limestone, Southern Victoria, Carleton North out of Woodstock and of course our Lady Tigers.” He adds, “We have had huge crowds in the past and this year should be even more exciting with the best teams in Class D all showing up for this County Shootout. Fans will surely get an early look at next seasons top teams.”
Games will be played at the Fort Fairfield Middle/High School gym and the Community Center beginning at noontime on Friday July 22. Fort’s Lady Tigers will play at noontime to open the tourney. All spectators are welcome and admission is $5, which is good for all games both days.
