NORTHERN MAINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE coworkers of Heidi Graham, of Mapleton, formed a challenge to faculty and staff to help raise funds during Graham’s health crisis. At the recent benefit for Graham, three of NMCC’s faculty members had their heads shaved after the $3,500 check was presented to Graham and her family. Posing with their new looks are, from left: Jason Parent, director of development and college relations; Graham, administrative assistant; Tim Crowley, NMCC president; and Bill Egler, dean of students.

The Mapleton United Baptist Church will be hosting a Vacation Bible School Aug. 1-5 from 12:30-3 p.m. each day. Josh and Melanie Duncan will be returning to serve as leaders. This year’s theme will be “Lights, Camera, Action! God’s Bigger Plan.” Children ages 4 through grade 5 are invited to attend! Family fun

The Supreme Court Jesters will be conducting the combined church service of the Mapleton and Lidstone United Methodist Churches on Sunday, July 31. The service, sponsored by the two churches, will be held at Thomas Brewer Park in Washburn. This will be an informal worship at 10 a.m. at the Park. Those planning to attend should bring along their own folding chairs. Following the service, there will be a potluck picnic and games for the children. For more information about the Supreme Court Jesters, feel free to visit their website at http://supremecourtjesters.org/. If you have children, they will truly enjoy this group of talented performers!

Special luncheon

There will be a special luncheon at the Mapleton Methodist Church this Friday, July 22 at 11:30 a.m. Although the weekly luncheons have been cut back to once a month, the ladies of the church, along with the ladies at the Baptist Church, will be serving a lunch on the 22nd. There is no charge for the meal, but donations will be accepted.
