PRESQUE ISLE — SAD 1 Adult Education commencement exercises were held Thursday, May 12 at Presque Isle High School.
TWENTY-SEVEN STUDENTS received their SAD 1 Adult Education diplomas this year with 16 participating in the May 12 commencement exercises. Among those graduating were, from left, front row: Kenneth R. Approximately 125 people attended the ceremony. Twenty-seven students received their adult education diplomas this year. Class Marshal Morgan Johnson led 16 participating graduates into the PIHS auditorium to receive their high school and GED diplomas, accompanied by pianist Eva Ireland.
Larry K. Fox, SAD 1 adult education director, welcomed those in attendance. Ellen Schneider, SAD 1 assistant superintendent, addressed the graduates. Jodie-lee Crew gave the invocation and Sara Shannon was the class speaker. Katy Schneider sang “The National Anthem” and was later joined by Sophia Willette to sing “For Good” from the musical “Wicked.” Matt Lajoie assisted with the lights and sound system.
An Outstanding Student award was presented to Irene Sutton. A Student Recognition award was presented to Warren Bell. Jim Bubar, of the Presque Isle Rotary Club, awarded a $500 scholarship to Kimberley Murphy.
A Teacher of the Year award was presented to Donna Nelson. A 30-year service pin was awarded to Pat Palm, while Barry Madore and Helen Merriam received 25-year teacher service pins. A 20-year teacher service pin was awarded to Jennifer Johnson, while Karen Raymond received a 5-year service pin.
Dr. Gehrig Johnson, superintendent, and Fox presented the graduates with their diplomas. Lucy Richard, school board chair, presented the charge to the graduating class.
