Neal Sleeper, the program director for Caribou Parks and Recreation, says summer CRX, or Caribou Rec Extreme, programming is available for all area youths entering grades 7, 8, 9 and 10.
CRX is an outdoor-based program with an emphasis on encouraging individuals to lead a healthier lifestyle through exercising in the outdoors. Activities include hiking, fishing, kayaking, camping and two Katahdin adventures.
Sleeper says in addition to teaching kids the fundamentals associated with these activities, CRX teaches participants to different life skills and introduces them to some of the most beautiful spots in Aroostook, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties.
There are resident and non-resident fees, which apply for each activity. For more information contact the Caribou Park and Recreation Department at 493-4224.
