The Processional was held with the WDSH Band, under the direction of Sean Diette, playing “Pomp & Circumstance.” Senior Class President Sarah Sjoberg gave the welcome. A Presentation of Appreciation was made by Christopher Farley followed by Dakota Koch, who presented gifts and teacher recognition.
The Second Honor Essay was delivered by Courtney Turner, daughter of Beverly and Mark Turner. She directed her comments especially to the underclassmen, reminding them to thank “a lot of significant people in your life that you usually forget to thank.” The thank-you list included teachers, classmates, family, other special influences including their Lord and Savior.
The First Honor Essay was delivered by Dakota Koch, daughter of Liane and Peter Koch, on the topic of forgetting. “Life isn’t just about forgetting. It’s about remembering. It’s about learning and using your memories to benefit your day-to-day walk. Whether you use your knowledge of education or your experience of friendships, you will use your memories to help you through life,” she said.
Lindsey Blackstone, daughter of Laurie and Gary Blackstone, gave the Salutatory Address. She urged her classmates to be true to themselves and their faith. “The best piece of information that I could possibly leave you with is: no matter the circumstances or where your futures take you, keep your characters in tact. Remember to hold your character close, and let it show in all that you do,” she said.
Cameron Huston, son of Patty Ericson and Mark Huston, delivered the Valedictory address. He compared high school graduation to a voyage similar to that of Christopher Columbus. “Tonight we leave behind the old world of Washburn District High School for the New World of the future,” he said.

Huston quoted his grandmother who said, “If you’re gonna stick with it, stick with it, but if you’re gonna stick with it, you’re stuck with it!” He paraphrased it this way: “Either accept what life has for you and carry on, or sit back and be stuck with it anyways.”Andrea Hallett, as well as faculty, staff and community members made academic and scholarship awards. Seniors Kyle Huston and Courtney Turner conducted the parent recognition portion of the program.
Superintendent of Schools Ed Buckley, Principal Ricky Bragg and Assistant Principal Ron Ericson presented diplomas to the Class of 2011. Kelsey Churchill, class marshal, led the Recessional.
