As the summer kicked off Tuesday, so did the first regular season Twilight League matches at VaJoWa Golf Course. This year, the field consists of 16 two-man teams in which they play a head-to-head handicapped best ball format. Last week some teams posted a score in order to get credit for a tiebreaker at the end of the season.
Also, every Sunday at 3 p.m. members hold their co-ed golf. In this league, the format changes each week whether it be from a traditional scramble, a shamble or alternate shot. This past Sunday, the 19th, there were 17 participants as the first-place team was Peter Blood, Bev Osborn and Betty Smallwood. The second-place team was Stuart Kelley, Sara Douglas and Ralph Powers and the third-place team consisted of Greg Douglas, Terry Pettengill and Carol Blood.
VaJoWa will also be holding its second scramble tournament of their event schedule on Saturday, June 25. This scramble tournament of the 2011 season is the KVHC Diabetes Charity Scramble. There are 13 teams pre-registered leaving room for five more four-person teams. This tournament looks to be a great success as the course is in mid-summer condition as the greens are rolling exceptionally well.
