MCCARTHY, Ida, 86, PERTH-ANDOVER, June 14, 2011. Arrangements are in the care of Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover.

PERTH-ANDOVER – Surrounded by her loving family, Ida McCarthy, passed away peacefully at Hotel Dieu of St. Joseph Hospital on June 14, 2011. Born in Siegas, NB, on January 23, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Alice (Michaud) Beaulieu.

Ida leaves behind her daughters: Julia Solomon (Sherry-Lynn Gagnon) of Westmanland, ME, Cynthia Towers (Frank Rolerson) of Rockland, ME, and Janet Barfield (Willie) of Charlotte, NC; her sons: Roland Beaulieu (fiancee Marie-May St-Jarre) and Alan McCarthy of New Sweden, ME; her brother, Albert Beaulieu (Jean) of Plaster Rock; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ida was predeceased by her parents; her loving and loved companion of 20 years, Sheldon Plant; daughters, Louise Vallance and Joanne Putman; grandson, Jamie McDermott-Vallance; sisters: Georgette Cote and Viola Menard; and two brothers: Guy and Wilbrod Cote.

Ida was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and was also a devoted volunteer at the Victoria Glen Manor. Through many hardships and sorrows, she was always positive and displayed a contagious sense of humour. Her kind, loving and generous nature endeared her to her many friends. She left us all with sweet memories.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 1 p.m., at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. Father Curtis Sappier celebrated. Interment followed at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Limestone Siding. Music for the service was by Carol Andersen, Lee Longstaff, and Dan Vallance. Poems were read by Michelle Beaulieu, and Cynthia Towers.

Pallbearers were Joseph Solomon, Peter Solomon, Steve Griffeth, Derrick Towers, Yarrow Vallance, and Brian Beaulieu. Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover.
