Katahdin Trust Company gives back to community

HOULTON — In its role as a true community bank, Katahdin Trust Company is often found investing time, resources and efforts to support a host of organizations. As a result, the bank has been honored by the American Bankers Association with a Certificate of Recognition for its community involvement.
Katahdin Trust Company President and CEO Jon J. Prescott said “while we appreciate the recognition for a job well-done, we are primarily concerned with our ability to enhance the quality of life we share in our communities.”
Prescott noted that during 2010, Katahdin Trust Company provided financial assistance to more than 150 organizations throughout northern Maine. This support translated to over $150,000 in sponsorships and contributions. Aside from corporate financial support, Katahdin employees invested nearly 12,000 volunteer hours in a host of civic, charitable, educational and economic development endeavors. These efforts ranged from service on the Board of Directors of local hospitals, town councils and colleges to coaching youth sports throughout the year. The bank and its employees were also visible in area schools, logging more than 100 hours discussing and teaching the importance of saving and using credit wisely to area students.
“Katahdin Trust Company is pleased to give back to the local communities which we serve,” stated Prescott.   “It’s a vital part of who and what we are: an independent community bank with an eye on the well-being of our friends and neighbors. We truly believe the efforts of our bank extend beyond the walls of our locations.”
