Neither the Southern Aroostook or East Grand girls fared well during the Class D quarterfinal round of the Eastern Maine Tournament last Thursday.
In Dyer Brook, the Lady Warriors held the lead until the top of the seventh when Whitney Donovan delivered a single to score the go-ahead run as the No. 5 Hornets stung host No. 4 Southern Aroostook, 17-11.
Ashland’s Allyx Beaulieu tied the game at 10-all when she banged a run-scoring single and then Ashland tacked on six more runs for insurance after Donovan’s single to erase a 11-10 deficit in the sixth.

Shea Craig contributed two singles to drive in two runs and Maci Bellonceau hit two singles for an RBI.
Ashland (10-6) played Deer Isle-Stonington in the Class D finals yesterday in Brewer.
For Southern Aroostook which ends its season at 8-8, Shelby Hartin doubled, singled and knocked in three runs, while Katie Goodall doubled and an RBI single. Rochelle Sirois hit two RBI singles.
At Deer Isle, the Lady Mariners blanked visiting East Grand, 11-0 in their Class D quarterfinal matchup.
Sydney Ouzts fired a one-hitter against seventh-seeded East Grand, striking out 18, while only walking two. Deer Isle improved to 15-2. Amber Jones produced an RBI single in the second inning and highlighted Deer Isle-Stonington’s nine-run sixth inning with a two-run double.
