Delegates from Houlton High School have been chosen to attend Dirigo Boys’ and Girls’ State. Dirigo Boys’ and Girls’ State is a school of government sponsored by the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary. Girls’ State will be held at Husson University from June 19-24 and Boys’ State will be held at Thomas College from June 19-23.
Delegates are chosen by the Social Studies Department at the high school. This year’s Girls’ State delegates are Megan Cloutier, daughter of Michael Cloutier and Johnna Fleming and Alana Smith, daughter of Alan and Gretchen Smith. Cloutier and Smith are both sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Chester L. Boys’ State delegates are Lucas Anderson, son of Christopher and Elizabeth Anderson and Greg Smaligo, son of Peter and Andrea Smaligo. Anderson and Smaligo are sponsored by the American Legion, Chester L. Briggs Post #47.
Also attending are Cody Woods, son of Dr. Karl and Lisa Woods, sponsored by the Houlton High School Student Council; Zacharia Harvey, son of Dr. Bruce and Michelle Harvey, sponsored by Katahdin Trust Company; and Isaac Brown, son of Michael and Gina Brown, sponsored by the Houlton Lodge of Elks.
