My father is Gerald Duff and for the 59 years of my life, he has been my special Dad. He has done many jobs over the years – potato farmer, potato inspector, insurance man, school bus driver, worked at the pumping station in Littleton where fuel was pumped from Searsport to Limestone. He was on the Board of Directors at Living Waters in Weston and for many years did all the haying for the animals at Living Waters. And one of his favorite jobs, although it might sound “disgusting”, he ran the dump in Littleton on Saturdays.
Dad has always like to be around people and is a very “people” person. He liked to help family and anyone in any way he could – and never expected anything in return.Gerald Duff
He was well-known come fall of the year for making his fudge – peanut butter and fudge. Any every year the list would get longer, but that didn’t make any difference.
A few years ago he wasn’t able to work anymore, but the “fudge-making” continued. Together, Dad and I made fudge and believe me, by the time we got done, I couldn’t look at a piece of fudge anymore! I believe the final amount of fudge made that year was close to 100 lbs.
Now Dad is in a healthcare facility and has been there for over four years, with a disease there is no cure for. Some days are better than others, but you take it a day at a time.
So Dad, on this Father’s Day I want you to know – I love you with all my heart!
Love, Diane
