The May visit also provided the Chinese Consulate General’s Office with the opportunity to promote educational exchange and cooperation between the University and Chinese educational institutions, to discuss issues facing Chinese students when they come to UMPI and to meet with Chinese students and UMPI professors. Officials said they felt UMPI provides an excellent study environment for students. During their visit, the officials toured UMPI’s science labs and were impressed by its state-of-the-art GIS laboratory. They also toured the campus and were impressed by its high-quality environment.
