Gabriel Robertson, the son of Sam and Katie Robertson, left, of Caribou, recently completed the Babies and Books Program at the Caribou Public Library and is shown here with his Mom and Jean Shaw, children’s librarian, who presented Gabriel with a certificate of completion and a book. The book the young reader is holding has his name printed in it and will be placed in the children’s section of the library.

Gabriel Robertson and his Mom Katie recently received a certificate from Jean Shaw, right, children’s librarian at the Caribou Public Library, for completing the Babies and Books program.

Babies and Books, a reading program introduced to parents of newborn babies at Cary Medical Center in collaboration with the Friends of the Caribou Library provides families with the child’s first library card, along with a variety of material offering suggestions for age-appropriate activities. The program also includes a free board book, an invitation to attend the “Mother Goose Time” library program from birth until their first birthday.

Upon the child’s first birthday a certificate of completion is presented to the family and a book is placed in the children’s section at the library with the baby’s name in it stating they have completed the “Babies and Books” program.

Aaron Bennett, the son of Anna Bennett, also graduated from the Babies and Books program but was absent when the photo was taken.
