Houlton tennis teams split

At Madawaska last Tuesday, the Houlton High School tennis teams split with Van Buren.
In girls’ action, Van Buren took a 5-0 decision, as Haley Lizotte topped Kelsey Fitzpatrick, 8-0; Natasha Bourgoine downed Megan Gerath, 8-0 and Parise Rossignol defeated Daisy Torres, 8-1. In doubles, Tonya Goodin/Kristy Leonard bested Lauren Bragan/Lizzy Garcia, 8-6, while Chantal Deveau/Ashley Martin toppled Meghan Make/Danielle Daigle, 8-1.
    The Houlton boys’ tennis team improved to 7-1 with a 5-0 shutout of Van Buren.
In singles, Zach Harvey won 8-1 over Eric LaPlante; Lucas Anderson defeated Brandon Ouellette, 9-8 (7-2 tie breaker) and Tyler Delano topped Mark Levasseur, 8-3. In doubles, Cody Woods/Craig Thomas won 8-0 over Nick Violette/Brad Roy, while D.J. McGary/Josh Sullivan picked up an 8-6 win over A.J. Edgecomb/Connor Lapierre.
