HRH recognizes volunteers

    HOULTON — In recognition of the many hours and contributions devoted throughout the year by hospital volunteers, the Volunteer Department of Houlton Regional recently held its 26th annual volunteer luncheon.
    The theme for the luncheon was “HRH Volunteers Spring into Action.” 
    Over the past year, 12,000 hours have been donated by volunteers at the hospital.  Since the department began in 1984, volunteers have donated 275,244 hours of service at the hospital.
    There are currently 85 volunteers providing services at Houlton Regional Hospital with over 30 different departments utilizing their services.  Some of the jobs done by volunteers including spending quality time with residents, reading to patients as well as entertaining them, helping to put supplies away, assisting in laundry or ringing up a sale in our gift shop, as well as many clerical duties, special projects and greeting our patients and visitors at the information desk.
    Hospital volunteers play a very important role in our hospital team.  “It’s so nice to work with people that enjoy giving back to their community hospital.  They are truly appreciated by all”, said Patrice Lunnie, volunteer manager.
    Among the volunteers and honored for their hours of service were, Ida Bradley RSVP  14,000 hours, Jane Hughes 10,500 hours, Elizabeth Childers RSVP 10,000 hours, Al McCluskey 9,700 hours, Gary Tidd 8,100 hours, Joan Logan 7,000 hours, Mildred Reece RSVP 5,000 hours, Glynn Porter 4,700 hours,  Lori Stiles 3,100 hours, Arline Dickison, RSVP 2,800 hours, Lavona Varney 2,600 hours, Arlene Bean RSVP 2,300 hours, Lewis Webber and Virginia McLaughlin both 2,000 hours, Larry Hutchinson, Stephanie Larson and Rita McDade all had 1,800 hours, Fran Dunn 1,700 hours, Nancy Bridgham 1,400 hours, Arlene Burton and Ruth Levesque both had 1,200 hours, Lois Jeffery and Betty Hutchinson both had 1,200 hours, William Dunn 950 hours, Barbara Grant 800 hours, Donna Regent 750 hours, John Cleary 550 hours, Andrew Dorr 500 hours, Donna Tracy 450 Hours, Louise Hamilton and Kelly Irish both 400 hours, Katlynn Bailey 350 hours, Helen Blois RSVP, Beverly Moody, Roland Cameron and Connie Davidson all with 300 hours, Brenda Chambers 250 hours, Elinor Harvey 200 hours, Debbie Bell and Karla McGary both had 150 hours, Crystal Cummings, Mary Hatfield, Sharon Lyons all had 100 hours and Eldon Bennett RSVP, Ronald Bragg and Robert Kervin received their 50 hour pin.
